Fine at schools

2017-09-30
A PROMINENT private school has recently enforced a policy regarding speaking in English. A child, caught speaking in Urdu or his mother tongue is to be fined Rs5 first, and the amount will be doubled every time. The fine will bedeposited in school funds.

Schools administration should focus more on developing technical skills and building intelligence among children. English can be learnt over the passage of time.

Moreover, penalising a child financially is an indirect punishment for the parents.

If at all, the schools should find another way to deal with children speaking in Urdu or their mother tongue.
