ACCORDING to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended October 13, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,733.096 billion after a 0.06 per cent decrease over the preceding week`s figure of Rs11,739.87bn.

Compared with last year`s corresponding figure of Rs10,301.89bn, the current week`s figure was higher by 13.90pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,653.24bn against preceding week`s deposits of Rs11,661.03bn, showing a fall of 0.07pc.

Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs79.86bn, higher by 1.28pc against previous week`s figure of Rs78.84bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,530.30bn, higher by 0.50pc over preceding week`s figure of Rs16,448.41bn.

Current week`s figure is higher by 17.15pc compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs14,110.75bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,268.197bn, higher by 0.50pc over previous week`s figure of Rs16,187.30bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs262.11bn, werehigher 0.38pc over the previous week`s Rs261.11bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks increased in the week under review. It rose by 4.40pc to Rs2,684.65bn against previous week`s Rs2,571.36bn. Compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs1787.91bn, current week`s figure is higher by 50.16pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,598.77bn were higher by 4.56pc against previous week`s Rs2,485.49bn.

Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs85.878bn against the previous week`sRs85.870bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs8,349.01bn against preceding week`s figure of Rs8,336.01bn, higher by 0.16pc. Compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs7,231.34bn, current week`s figure is higher by 15.46pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs8,288.37bn, higher by 0.20pc against preceding week`s figure of Rs8,272.44bn, whereas investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs60.65bn against preceding week`s figure of Rs63.57bn.Rs85.870bn.
