CM reviews progress on 100MW solar project

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab government is executing a solar project of100 megawatt at Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park in Bahawalpur from its own resources which will start production in the beginning of the next year.

The chief minister said 49 sites had been selected for starting solar projects of one to 50 megawatt in Punjab which would generate 215 megawatts of electricity.

he was presiding over a meeting here on Saturday which reviewed the progress on 100MW solar project at Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park in Bahawalpur and installing small solar power projects atvarious places of the province.

The chief minister said work on the solar project in Bahawalpur was continuing speedily.

He directed the Planning and Development chairman that a practicable programme should be evolved to shift hospitals, schools and agriculture tubewells to solar.

He said a comprehensive plan should also be prepared with regard to solar home solution and final proposals should be submitted at the earliest.

Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park Chief Executive Officer Najam Shah briefed the meeting about the progress on the solar project.
