KARACHI: Around a dozen of shops in the Liaquatabad Supermarket near the Dak Khana bus stop were looted hours before dawn on Tuesday, triggering a protest by the traders and shopkeepers ofthe area.
This is a sixth such theft occurred overthe pastthree months as previously shops near Tibet Centre, Urdu Bazaar and Empress Market in Karachi South district were looted by thieves.
SSP central Muqaddas Haider said the police were gathering details from the private security guards, who were allegedly held hostage by the armed robbers during the robbery.
Meanwhile, Sindh police IG A. D. Khawaja while taking notice of the robbery sought a detailed report from the DIG west, said a statement issued by the central police office.
`The Sindh IG has directed the SSP central to meet the representatives of the market committee and office bearers and the shopkeepers concerned to record their statements to ensure arrest of the culprits behind the robberies,` it added.
