REFERENCE Fatima Hassan`s letter (Dec 27), I would like to say that the Peshawar massacre is indeed a wake-up call. It was not the Taliban who declared war against the state or the army.
The ñrstsuicide attack took place as a reaction to a missile attack on a Bajaur madressah in which 84 students aged between four to 12 years were killed. It was not the Taliban who declared war against the state; it was the state that declared war against the mujahideen who were living peacefully in Fata.
Second,the peace talksfailed due to the state, not the Taliban, who were ready to lay down their arms and their only demand was that of imposing Shariah.
I condemn all terrorist activity, whether it is done in the name of Islam, nationalism or sectarianism.
I also request the writer to point out the shortcomings of those leaders whose carelessness is responsible for the death of over 290 children in Thar. Write also about our leaders who have forced our people to live in misery and near starvation.
