ACCORDING to the ministry of overseas Pakistanis and human resource development, about seven million Pakistanis reside in about 140 countries around the world. Nearly 48pc of them are engaged in different businesses in the Middle East, 28pc in Europe and 19pc in the US. The 2013 report of the ministry confirms 2.7m Pakistanis left their country during the last five years for a better and safer future.
Shockingly, the maximum ratio includes students who remain hopeless and prefer foreign countries for education.
Secondly, injustice and inequality caused migration of professionals, especially of engineers, scientists and doctors, who like to get citizenships there than live in the country since they also feel it unsafe in Pakistan.
The government must think seriously about providing fundamental facilites to its citizens within the country to stop brain drain.
