Brain drain

2015-12-30
T HIS is apropos Tufail Hussain Malik`s aticle `Brain drain` (Dec 25). The writer has correctly stated why and how people leave this country and go abroad thus givingrise to brain drain. As an A-level student, I have come across many senior students of my schoolgoingabroadforfurtherstudiesafter completing a-level. For them, Pakistan isnot an option for study.

This can be assessed from the fact that seats for registration of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), a globally recognised test by universities for undergraduate admission, to be held in Pakistan on Jan 23 next, got completely booked on Dec15 and there are no more seats available now, though the late registration deadline is Jan 12 next.

Students after getting their results apply abroad in universities of their interest.

The element which attracts students to take this test is that foreign universities, especially of the US, Turkey, Cyprus and Canada, meet full financial need of students so that they can continue their studies without any hindrance. Once they are settled there, they don`t look back at their country. This is how the transfer of talent takes place.
