Five villages to be electrified by USAID

GWADAR: The USAID through the Small Grant Ambassador`s Fund Programme (SGAFP) is providing assistance to electrify through solar energy more than 335 households in five villages of Suntsar union council in Gwadar district. This was announced at a ceremony held here to launch the `Electricity from green energy for UC Suntsar` project.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gwadar district`s Additional Deputy Commissioner Dosthain Hoth praised USAID and the Rural Community Development Council (RCDC) Gwadarfor preparing the project for people of the most remote areas in the district.
He said that Suntsar union council had no electricity and the project would definitely bring comfort to public life in villages selected for electrification. He ensured complete support for the project.Haji Abdul Rehman, an elder from Puthan, one of the selected villages, said: `It`s unbelievable. I never thought to have electricity in our village in my life time.
The project is scheduled to be completed in one year. Electricity will also be provided to primary schools and basic health units in the villages.
Under the project, 349 solar units will be installed in Sui, Puthan,Metaing, Lal Mohmmad Bazar Zaran and Chawar bazaar Zahran by the end of January next year.
Former district Naib Nazim Abdul Ghaffar Hoth, while appreciating the USAID help, said the RCDC had played a vital role in providing facilities and support to people living in remote areas. He urged the NGOs to focus on education and health sectors.
Nasir Rahim, the focal person of the project, Abdul Wahab, the project manager and Abdullah Osman, general secretary of the RCDC Gwadar also spoke.
The ceremony was attended by elders of villages from Suntsar, social and political activists and office-bearers of non-governmental organisations.
