PESHAWAR: A colorful event was held in connection with the first alumni reunion of the department of psychology, University of Peshawar, at the Pashto Cultural Museum of UoP here on Sunday.
According to UoP press release, the fellow psychologists while talking about psychological problems of the day said that people were suffering from anxiety, depression and other forms of trauma. However, they can get rid of the resonance of their miseries without use of medicine by living a positive life. The event was attended by around 300 alumni of the department.
The highlight of the day was the depiction of famous romance `Adam Khan Dukhanai`.
UoP vice-chancellor Prof Rasul Jan was the chief gueston the occasion. He was accompanied by chairperson department of psychology Prof Erum Irshad, VC Swat University Dr Jehanzeb Khan and dean faculty of social sciences Prof Naeemur Rehman.
The VC highlighted the importance of alumni and said the department had some towering personalities under whose guidance the students were equipped with latest trends in the field and new programmes.
He sought proposals from the alumni for introduction of forensic psychology in the department.
He commended the initiative of the department in doing psychotherapy of patients suffering from trauma in the war-affected areas and bomb victims.
Prof Erum said that the department had a unique distinction of giving three vicechancellors to varsities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
