RAWALPINDI: A passenger travelling to Abu Dhabi was handed over to intelligence agencies for investigation after a military uniform was recovered from his luggage during security check at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Sunday.

A source at the airport said an Azad Kashmir (AK) regiment uniform was discovered by anti-narcotics staff with a name plate bearing the name ‘Nadeem’ in the passenger’s suitcase while boarding of the Air Blue flight PA 230 to Abu Dhabi was in progress.

During preliminary investigation, the passenger revealed the uniform had been given to him by his brother-in-law but did not say why he was taking it abroad.

The passenger who was not allowed to travel with uniform was handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation. The Punjab government has already banned the unauthorised sale of military and police uniforms and directives were issued to seal all such shops.

Recently, in a number of attacks on sensitive military installations as well as the Peshawar school, terrorists wore military uniforms to disguise themselves as soldiers of Pakistan army.
