LAKKI MARWAT: A minor girl was killed and a young man wounded in a bomb blast in Gandi Khankhel area on Thursday.

A police official said that a girl identified as Naila Moeen, 8, was playing outside her house in the fields when she mistook a grenade for a toy. They said that as the girl lif ted the grenade it exploded killing her on the spot. He said that a young man, Sifatullah, was wounded in the explosion.

Police later cordoned off the area and during search found nine hand grenades from the place of incident which were defused by officials of bomb disposal squad.

Meanwhile, two people were killed in separate firing incidents in Tajori town.

Police said on Thursday that a boy killed his brother over a minor dispute in Bakerkhel locality and escaped. Complainant Mohammad Yousaf told police that after exchange of harsh words his son Mohammad Saleem took out a pistol and killed his brother Yaqoob Khan.

In another incident, a man, identified as Syed Nawaz, was killed in the limits of Tajori police station. Police said that Mir Wali and Abidullah were engaged in exchange of harsh words when Nawaz intervened to end their fight.However, firing ensued between the quarrelling men and Nawaz received fatal bullet wounds and diedinstantly. Policehaveregistered the case.

GIRL ABDUCTED: A young girl was abducted by a group of three men and one of them allegedly raped her in Sarga Kherukhel village.

Police said on Thursday that the girl, 20, was kidnapped by three men when she was fetching water from a tank near her house in Wanda Banochi village late in the night.

`The kidnappers bundled her into their car and took her to Sarga Kherukhel village where one of them allegedly raped her,` they said.

Police said the next morning the girl was recovered by her father from a house in the village and took her to police station. Police have registered a case against Faizullah and Pavando and their unidentified accomplice.

SMUGGLING BID FOILED: Police foiled a bid to smuggle narcotics and arrested two alleged smugglers on Thursday.

An of ficial said that police stopped a truck near Gandi Khankhel on Indus Highway and during search seized 14kg of hashish and a pistol from one Waseeullah and arrested him along with driver Mohammad Ayaz. A case has been registered against them.-Correspondent
