KARACHI: Although the JUI-F and PTI are `on the same page` over a proposed anti-government protest drive, set to be launched after Eidul Fitr, Maulana Fazlur Rehman`s party is seeking a written agreement between the two parties, to avoid any bad blood further down the line.
Speaking to DawnNewsTVon Saturday, JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza said that his party required written assurances from the PTI regarding his party`s reservations, Dawn.com reported.
Earlier this month, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman revealed plans to launch a nationwide protest campaign against the government after Eid, along with the PTI, over rising corruption and the deteriorating law and order situation.
Incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan had also announced that the party would hold protests outside Adiala Jail on all three days of Eidul Fitr.
Appearing on the DawnNewsTV show,Doosra Rukh, when Senator Murtaza was asked about his party`s reservations, he said that he had received a response from PTPs Asad Qaiser.
However, he said, `We`d like the agreement made between PTI and JUI-F to be documented in writing, to eliminate any possibility of misunderstandings or blame in the future.
He added that the process for achieving a consensus could only be kicked off after Eid, since he and others in the party had already left for their hometowns for the holidays.
Participating in the discussion, PTI Senator Mohammad Humayun Mohmand agreed with the JUI-F lawmaker, saying: `It is also Sunnah to pen down agreements in a written form.
Both men also admitted that there were `trust issues` between the two political parties because of their history, but agreed that ties were on the mend.
`The venue of the protest could be D-Chowk or any other place that can be decided with consensus,` Senator Murtaza added. `The decision for the protest has been taken, but it`s still to be decided whether we will hold a joint protest with PTI or separately.
Senator Mohmand said that whether the protests happened separately or jointly, it had been decided that it would take place, and it could potentially be a `two-pronged approach` against the government.
