RAWALPINDI: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two suspects who snatched cash from a petrol pump staff at gunpoint three days ago, and recovered the Rs1,9 22,640 from them.
A spokesman for the police said that SSP Operations Kashif Zulfiqar handed over the money recovered from the robbers to the owner.
He said that the arrested suspects included an employee of the petrol pump and an Afghan citizen.
The suspects snatched the cash from the petrol pump staff when they were going to deposit it in a bank. Following the incident, the Sadar Baroni police registered a case and later traced and arrested the suspects through technical means and human intelligence.
Meanwhile, the Sadbari police conducted an operation in Swabi and safely recovered a citizen kidnapped from Rawalpindi.
During the operation, a suspected kidnapper was also arrested. SubInspector Haroon Hayat was seriously injured when the kidnappers opened fire on the police.
The injured SubInspector Haroon Hayat has been shifted to a hospital in Rawalpindi. The police said Abbas Ali went for Iftari with friends and did not return. The family reported the matter to the police after failing to find him. A case of kidnapping was registered and an investigation launched.
The police tracked down the kidnappers using technical means and human intelligence and raided their hideout in Swabi.
According to initial investigations, the kidnappers had a money dispute with Abbas Ali.
