ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday condemned the alleged embezzlement of Rs166 billion in 56 companies of Punjab and asked one of its leaders, Shafgat Mahmood, to bring the matter into the knowledge of public.
A meeting of PTI leaders chaired by Imran Khan also condemned the appointment of advocate general and 14 law officers in Punjab and at the federal level. It decided to form two committees to look into the appointments in Sindh and Punjab.
The committee comprising Mr Mahmood, Fawad Chaudhry and Babar Awan would look into the appointments made in Punjab and at the federal level. The other committee comprising Arif Alvi and Liaquat Jatoi would look into the appointments made in Sindh.
During the meeting, names of Himayatullah and Ejaz Qureshi were proposed as candidates for the position of caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting decided to withdraw support for the nomination of former bureaucrat Nasir Khosa as caretaker chief minister of Punjab. The meeting urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to start arrangements for elections in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
