UHS` supplementary exam begins tomorrow

RAWALPINDI: The final professional supplementary examination of the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, will start on June 1.
On Saturday, the coronavirus test of 81 staff members who will perform duty as examiners was carried out and five of them tested positive.`The basic aim of conducting the examination is to save the academic year of the students. This is necessary for the final-year students who failed in their final exams and will get house jobs in hospitals af ter passing the supplementary exam and getting registered with PMDC,` Prof Dr Javed Akram, UHS Vice Chancellor, told Dawn.
He said the exam would also be held in Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir during which all precautionary measuresagainst coronavirus would be adopted.
`The number of students appearing in the examination will be less and it is possible to adopt all safety measures.
He said he would monitor the arrangements all over the province. Total 16 centres have been set up in Punjab.
He said the supplementary exam was being conducted upon the request of the final-year students.He said the focal person to ensure the smooth implementationof SOPs with particular emphasis on screening at the entrances with thermal guns of staff and students shall be provided by the UHS.
`In case any member or student fails the screening, their paper can be taken later. Also, to ensure physical distancing circles will be made at the entry and seating should also three metres apart.
Besides, wearing of masks is mandatory for all staff and students.
