PPP MNA vows to organise sit-in against fake domiciles as protests held in several towns

SUKKUR: Pakistan Peoples Party`s MNA Sardar Mohammad Bux Khan Mahar has added his voice to growing condemnation of issuance of fake domicile and permanent residence certificates (PRC) to non-natives of Sindh and said a sit-in will be staged against the practice after decrease in coronavirus casesinthe province.
The MNA said while talking to different delegations at his residence in Khangarh on Saturday that the people involved in the `shameful practice` were more dangerous than even bandits because they were robbing Sindhi youth of their right to jobs in their ownland.
He said that officials of different departments were involved in this brazen robbery.
Locals were also being neglected in jobs in industrial units in Ghotki district, he said.
He warned that people who possessed f ake domiciles would soon be subjected to accountability.
SUKKUR: Workers of Jamiat Talaba Islam-Fazl, student wing of Jamiat Ulema-iIslam-Fazl, took out a rally in Jacobabad to protest against the issuance of f ake domiciles and PRCs to non-natives.
JUI-F leader Dr A.G. Ansari and others said that all those who were involved in the shameful racket were not sincere with their own province and people. They should be brought to justice and dealt with sternly.
They said that domicile certificates were issued af ter proper scrutiny of documentary evidence and witnesses but the corrupt of ficers were handing out the documents on thebasis of relations or payment of bribe.
They said the shameful practice deprived Sindhi youths of admissions in educational institutions, jobs in civil service, special political posts, armed forces and other important sectors.
They pointed out `defects` in citizenship law as well as Sindh Residential Rules and called for rectifying them.
The gathering passed a resolution, demanding impartial scrutiny of domicile certificates and registration of cases against mafia involved in the scam. It called for formation of a permanent mechanism for verification of domicile certificates and permanent residence certificates by educational institutions and other departments concerned.
DADU: Hundreds of students and members of civil society staged a demonstration in Jamshoro against the issuance of bogus domiciles and PRCs in almost all districts of the province.
They demanded the authorities concerned should reject the fake documents of the people who originally belonged to other provinces and de-notify their jobs given to them onthe basisofsuchfake papers.
The protesters alleged that domiciles were being issued after payment of Rs4,000 or 5,000 bribe. Later, they set up a camp at Jamshoro railway crossing and observed token hunger strike for several hours to record protest.
The protesters` leaders Rizwan Chandio, Hafeez Umrani, Ali Jan Sindhi and others said that the practice was not only against the law it was also aimed at converting Sindhi population into a minority.
They said that it was a sinister conspiracyagainst natives of Sindh that allowed nonnatives to get domiciles and PRCs and seize control of lucrative positions in the province and deprived locals of their rights.
`We will not tolerate the act of usurping of Sindhis` rights at any cost. All the deputy commissioners who were found involved in the illegal practice in an inquiry ordered by chief secretary Sindh, must be brought to book,` they said.
They said that Sindhi youth had proved their mettle at international level but they were refused jobs in Sindh while people f rom other provinces having bogus Sindh domiciles were given jobs in almost all big projects like Thar coal, thermal power etc which was great injustice and discrimination with Sindhi job-seekers.
The protesters demanded that the bogus domiciles and PRCs issued to non-natives be cancelled and legal action be taken against them immediately.
BADIN: Activists of Naujawan Sujag Tehreek held demonstration outside Awan-iSahafat and observed sit-in in protest against the racket of issuance of fake domiciles and PRCs to non-natives.
The protesters said that corrupt of ficials of revenue department were involved in the shameful practice which had deprived educated youth of the district of jobs in their own areas.
They termed it murder of fundamental human rights of Sindhis which would never be tolerated and demanded the government immediately cancel all domiciles issued to non-natives, award punishment to all the of ficials who had obtained jobs on the basis of the f ake documents in the best interest of justice.
