By Our Correspondent 2020-05-31
SUKKUR: Widespread but moderate rain lashed most areas of Sukkur and KandhkotKashmore district in the early hours of Saturday, turning weather pleasant after weeks of scorching heat.

In Kandhkot-Kashmore, high velocity winds accompanying the rainfall brought down at least five poles near Kandhkot city`s 11kV grid station. Power supply to all areas hooked to the grid station remained suspended for 20 hours till the filing of the story at around 9pm.

Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) sub-divisional officer Asghar Ali Bijarani, when contacted, said that two of the poles would have to be replaced with new one and, as such, it would take more time to put the grid station into operation.

It stahed raining in Sukkur district a little before dawn while people were still asleep.

The showers coupled with cool winds quickly changed the weather.

Parts of Jacobabad and Shikarpur districts also received light showers on Saturday morning.

Skies over the entire upper region of Sindh remained heavily overcast in the first half of the day.

Met officials have forecast light rain in upper, central and lower pans of Sindh on Sunday.
