TRAFFIC JAMS: As peak hours

2023-05-31
TRAFFIC JAMS: As peak hours descend on Karachi, all drivers and bikers start finding ways to escape traffic congestion. This leads to many an accident, leaving many injured. This can particularly be observed at most roundabouts in the city. Other than encroachments, the absence of traffic lights is the main problem behind traffic jams at such intersections in the city.

Despite frequent complaints from various quarters, the city`s traffic authorities appear to be least bothered about taking corrective steps that have been long needed. This, needless to say, isratherunprofessionalandunfortunate.

The authorities can surely do better.

Abdul Ghani Karachi WHEAT CRISIS: Tharparkar district, which has already been affected by the phenomenon of climate change over the last few years, has been facing an acute shortage of wheat currently. As is common knowledge, Tharparkaritselfdoesnotproduce wheat and that makes it totally dependent onnearbyareasforits wheat supplies. However, the district has not been getting the critical supply currently, which has left the masses in distress. The authorities concerned should look into the matter forthwith.

Mukesh R aja Islamkot UNFAIR TREATMENT: After a recent opportunity to visit several private organisations, my concerns about the working conditions of lower staff have increased manifold. They are forced to work in pathetic conditions where they are not entitled to leaves even when they have valid reasons, like sickness orunavoidable socialengagements. Are they not human beings? They surely are and deserve to be treated properly. Private organisations should treat them like human beings.

Amid ongoing economic hardships, it has really become hard for the lower staffat various organisations to survive.

The employers must realise the economic hardships of their employees.
