ISLAMABAD: Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz on Friday directed the Pakistan Council for Renewable Energy Technologies (PCR ET) to formulate off grid home-based solar solutions for the population of the rural and far-flung areas.

He emphasised that it wouldnot only be beneficial for people but also reduce burden on the national grid. He made these remarks during his visit to the PCRET.

The minister said any coun-try`s economic development was dependent on affordable e n e r g y resources.Mr Faraz said Pakistan had been facing severe challenges in this sector for the past few decades and renewable energy was the solution to a lot of energy problems.He stressed that focus on renewable energy technologies was the need of hour, which could provide the long-term solution to the energy woes of the country.
