BAHAWALPUR: Three suspects in police custody were killed by the `firing of their accomplices` here on Sunday in Baghdadul Jadid area.
Police said Khatib, Attique and Jamil were being escorted for the recovery of a motorcycle from village 24/BC. On way back near village 27/BC, some men fired on the team in a bid to get the suspects released.
During a shootout, the suspects were killed by the firing of their accomplices. No policeman received injuries.
A police press release alleged that the suspects were involved in several cases of dacoity and murder.
DEMO AGAINST INDIAN SHELLING: Activists of Shabab-i-Milli on Sunday protested against the Indian shelling along the Working Boundary which resulted in killing of villagers.
The participants gathered near Islamia University Old Campus Chowk and demonstrated against India.
They condemned the Indian government and raised slogans against it.
The speakers demanded that the federal government raise the issue at United Nations.
WORKSHOP: A one-day training workshop for the sanitation staff of the tehsil municipal administrations (TMAs) of Bahawalpur division concluded at districtcouncilhallonSunday.
Punjab Local Government Director Najeeb Aslam and Bahawalpur Division Director Altaf Husain addressed the participants.
They asked the TMAs to acquire modern machinery and equipment for cleanliness of sewer lines in their respective areas. They stressed the need for use of safety gear by sewer men.
