ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police conducted a search operation in various parts of the city this Sunday, and arrested 28 suspects in separate incidents, a police spokesperson said.
The search operation was carried out on directions from the Ministry of Interior, and targeted slums, inns, hotels, restaurants and Afghan locales.
Tarnol police conducted a search operation in its jurisdiction and arrested eight individuals.
Karachi Company police arrested two individuals allegedly involved in robberies where they portrayed themselves as police officials. Police also recovered cash from the two suspects, who are originally from Karachi. They confessed their involvement in robberies during the initial interrogation.
Kohsar police arrested two individuals in separate incidents, recovering a dagger and a bottle of alcohol. Margalla police arrested an individual and recovered a pistol and ammunition from his possession, while Khanna police also arrested a suspect and recovered five litres of alcohol from his possession.
Nilor police arrested four suspected of filling gas cylinders illegally. Meanwhile, Koral police arrested a person and recovered a pistol and ammunition.
Police also arrested seven professional alms-seekers from various parks of the city. Cases have been registered against those arrested and investigations are underway. A Reporter
