Three killed in clash

RAWALPINDI: Three persons were killed and 62 injured, including 35 police of ficials and two Deputy Superintendents of Police, as a result of a clash between the Police and a procession of Christian women and men taken out here this afternoon [Aug 30] to protest against the proposed nationalisation of private and missionary educational institutions. The procession taken out by the Masihi League was heading towards the Presidency in order to demonstrate there. It was stopped near Punjab House where the incident took place. News agencies [Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in New Delhi,] India has told Pakistan that any further delayin the recognition of Bangladesh would `hamper the process of durable peace, and normalisation of relations` on the Sub-continent, the External Affairs Minister, Sardar Swaran Singh, said in Parliament today [Aug 30]. He said: `We have reiterated to the Pakistani delegation that the question of the return of the Pakistani prisoners of war and the civilian internees cannot be settled without the participation and agreement of the Government of Bangladesh.
