LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the country has been put on the road to progress and prosperity while a conspiracy is being hatched against the homeland by threatening lockdown of Islamabad.

Talking to a delegation of the PMLN, Mr Shahbaz said that those threatening to lockdown Islamabad were committing an open enmity to the country as the `defeated` elements were implementing the agenda of creating hurdles in the way of development and prosperity.

Contrary to its name, he said, the Tehreek-i-Insaaf (justice movement) had become a non-justice party by refusing to accept the decisions taken at every forum of justice.

Recalling the financial losses of the 2014 sit-in, the chief minister said that today C-PEC projects were being opposed at external and eternal level.

He said the people would holdaccountable those involved in stoppage of the development process.

Meanwhile, at a health department related meeting the chief minister announced introducing a system of reward and punishment for ensuring provision of quality medical facilities in hospitals.

He said that doctors, nurses, paramedics and other staff would be encouraged on good performance as performance awards, comprising cash money and commendation certificates, would be launched to improve healthcare facilities.

He directed the authorities concerned to constitute a committee to devise a mechanism for the purpose.

Mr Shahbaz also approved a new system of provision of medicines to the patients on their doorstep at a cost of Rs6 billion to reduce rush of patients in hospitals.

He said the new system would result in elimination of embezzlement and theft of medicines.

The chief minister directed theauthorities concerned to give a final shape and implement the new system of storage and supply of medicines at the earliest.

He said that medical superintendents would be taken from the private sector for tehsil and district headquarters hospitals, initially for five health facilities.

He said that pharmacy in hospitals should open on Sunday as well so that patients did not face any difficulty.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has held Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak responsible for transporting weapons to Islamabad in connection with the PTI plan to lockdown capital on Nov 2.

`Police have recovered weapons from the car of a KP minister. The weapons were to be sent to Bani Gala to use them in protest. The KP chief minister is directly responsible for supplying weapons to Islamabad, Punjab government`s spokesman Zaeem Qadri told a press conference here on Sunday.
