CM`s adviser to visit China for talks on CPEC route

KOHAT: Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, Malik Shah Mohammad Khan, said on Sunday that he would soon visit China again to raise the issue of change in the route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He was speaking at a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of Taralli Bridge in Shakardarra which would cost Rs250 million. Provincial law minister Imtiaz Shahid, local councillors and officials of the relevant departments were also present on the occasion.

Shah Mohammad claimed that during his visit to China last year he had apprised the contractors at the international forum that the CPEC`s western route had been changed by bypassing 11 districts of KP. He added that the change by the federal government had resulted in increase in length of the route by 600 kilometres.

The advisor said that the provincial government had approved the railwaytrack from Peshawar to Dera Ismail Khan which would usher a new era of prosperity in the region. He said that PTI would not rest until the ouster of corrupt rulers.

POWER OUTAGES: The duration of power outages has almost tripled, affecting the businesses and domestic life in urban as well as rural areas here since Friday last.

When contacted, district nazim Maulana Niaz Mohmmad said that loadshedding was a federal subject.

However, he urged Pesco board of directors` chairman Malik Asad to provide some respite to the consumers.

In bazaar area, Pesco has been resorting to over three-hour continuous loadshedding at a time, distressing the traders, especially tailors who depend on power supply for their work.

A proprietor of an electronics shop, Zeeshan, said that the power supply was disconnected at 10:00am and restored at 1:30pm. He said that theycould not sell items to the people without checking during this time. `The loadshedding has increased from six hours to 18 hours daily in the city during the last three days,` he claimed.

A Pesco official said on condition of anonymity that in fact the local officials had to hide the losses occurring due to power theft by resorting to outages in the last week of every month.

He said that the supply situation would become normal within two to three days.

PASSINGOUTPARADE:Additional inspector general of police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mian Mohammad Asif has said that police have undergone a big change and become answerable, democratic and professional force.
