PESHAWAR: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has demanded of the federal government to provide incentives to local investors in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor on the pattern of Chinese investors to revive the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa economy.
The demand was raised by SCCI President Zahidullah Shinwari while speaking to a delegation of the national management course here on Monday.
The chamber chief suggested that the government take the local business community on board while framing economic policy, saying tax system needed to be reformed for industrialisation, improvement in exports and economic prosperity. He warned that by neglecting the business community of the province the government would be unable to succeed in its policies.
Mr Shinwari said industrial development, trade activities and business revival was directly linked with sustainability in the national economic policies, restoration of peace and smooth supply of natural gas and power to the industry. He appreciated the business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for continuing the effons to strengthen local economy despite challenges.
The government, he suggested, should introduce reforms through public-private pannership plans to attract new investment.
SCCI senior vice-president Mohammad Naeem Butt, executive member Abidullah Khan Yusufzai, Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry senior vicepresident Ziaul Haq Sarhadi and others were also present on the occasion.
