PTI, PPP to be electoral allies in Hazara division

MANSEHRA: The Pakistan Tehreeki-Insaf and Pakistan People`s Party have agreed on seat adjustment in Hazara division for the next general elections.

They however said they would finalise details of the seat adjustment after consultations.

`We (PTI) have begun talks with the PPP for seat adjustment or field joint candidatesin allnadonalandprovincial assembly constituencies in Hazara divi-sion during the next year`s general elecdons andhave sofarfound anencouraging response,` PTI divisional president Zargul Khan told Dawn on Monday.

PPP Hazara divisional president and former MPA Shuja Salim Khan led his party`s team during talks with PTI leaders, including Mr Zargul and Mansehra district president Babar Saleem Swati, here in the day.

The meeting was also attended by Qaumi Watan Party MPA Mohammad Ibrar Tanoli, who, Mr Zargul said, would contest the next elections from his home constituency, PK-57, Mansehra, on the PTI`s ticket.

`We are going to make an electoral alliance with the PPP and individuals having strong political backing to win their respective seats in the coming generalelections,`he said.Mr Zargul said the PTI and PPP shared their expectations on election seat adjustment.

`At this stage, we cannot reveal what exactly happened in the talks. We can just say this is a right step in the right direction, which can help us claim the maximum number of the national and provincial assembly seats in Hazara division,` he said.

Without naming the PML-N, the PTI leader said those claiming to be winner in Hazara division in the next elections would suf fer a humiliating defeat and that his party and allies would sweep the polls.

When contacted, PPP district president Malik Farooq expressed ignorance about the matter. `I am completely unaware of my party`s possible electoral alliance or seat adjustment with the PTI and therefore, I cannot comment on it,` he said.
