GIK Institute organises awareness drive about breast cancer

SWABI: Women Engineering Society (WES) of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) ran an awareness campaign on Monday about breast cancer and its preventive measures.
Led by WES president Sania Khushbakht Jamil the students from different disciplines of GIK Institute participated in the campaign. During the campaign, the GIK Institute`s campus was lit beautifully in pink to highlight the dangers of the deadly disease.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Jamil said the girls students were capable to conduct different productive activities and play their due role in educating the people about the women-related issues.
`We took wonderful initiative of breast cancer awareness campaign and also organised an awareness camp where the girls were told that they could fight and prevent breast cancer,` she said.
The other WES leaders and participants said the society also launched `He for She`campaign, which was enthusiastically supported by the boys students, a proof that they were part of the girls`initiative.
Ms Jamil said Engr Jehangir Bashar,Rector GIK Institute, and other officials fully supported their initiative.
GAS FOR ZAIDA CITY: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker AsadQaisar said on Monday that Rs36 million had been approved by the provincial government for provision of natural gas to the Zaida area.
Speaking at a function, he said like his home town of Marghuz he had also given importance to Zaida because he started his political career from there.
He pledged to get the gas supply to the area before the next general elections in pursuance of an order of the Peshawar High Court, which had directed SNGPL to ensure gas supply to the several villages of the district.
CLEANNESS CAMPAIGN: A cleanliness campaigns launched across the district on Sunday continued on Monday.
Swabi Deputy Commissioner Mutasim Billah led the campaign, where traders, transporters, teachers and students, politicians, TMA staff participated.
The district administration also ran an awareness campaign regarding importance of cleanliness.
Laig Khan, district president of Anjuman-i-Dokandaran, said traders across the district had been asked to ensure full participation in the campaign.
