2017-10-31
KARAK: The disgruntled workers in the local chapter of Jamaat-i-Islami have formed a parallel group, electing JI`s former district president Mualana Samiur Rehman as its founder president.

They also decided to field their own candidates in the next general election in all the three constituencies of Karak.

The decisions were taken at a meeting of the disgruntled group held here on Monday with Haji Qamar Gul in the chair. Party`s former district general secretary Ayatullah Khattak was also in attendance.

They decided to form Jamaati-i-Islami Dastori in the district and claimed they were forced to take the extreme step after their offer of negotiations was not responded either by the district or the provincial leadership.

The participants argued that they opposed the unconstitutional steps of the district and provincial leadership from the very first day and their struggle was based on genuine reasons.

The meeting, through a secret ballot, electedMaulana Samiur Rehman as its district president and Ayatullah Khattak as general secretary.

Furtherm ore, Mohammad Ismail was elected finance secretary, while the rest of the district cabinet members would be elected later.

After being elected the group`s district president, Mr Rehman said they would field their own candidates in all the three constituencies in the district, and resolved to carry out a survey to pick suitable and electable candidates for the election.

He said the Jamaati-iIslami Dastori would continue to fight against the elements taking decisions in violation of the party`s constitution.

He resolved that they would not permit anyone to hijack the party and asked the workers to support them in their just struggle.

The other participants said they had adopted the way of negotiations to settle the dif ferences through constitutional way but the stiff attitude of the leadership was a stumbling block in this regard.Correspondent
