BAJAUR: Eight persons were injured, some of them seriously, after a passenger van overturned here on Monday.

In a statement, Rescue 1122 said a van coming from Rawalpindi met the accident on the BajaurPeshawar highway in Lowisam area in the early hours on Monday.

The statement said the van was negotiating a sharp turn near a police checkpost when the driver lost controloverthe steering.

It said eight persons, including a woman, were wounded in the mishap.

The statement said a team of Rescue 1122 was dispatched to the accident site, which shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar, for treatment after providing them first aid on the spot.

Condition of some of the injured was stated to be critical at the hospital.

Mentioning over-speeding as the main cause of mishap, the rescue statement said about 20 people were seated in the vehicle at the time of the accident.-Correspondent
