LAHORE: A LHC full bench adjourned on Monday for further arguments a set of petitions against delimitation for local government elections in Punjab and for suspending the election`s schedule.
Petitioners also challenged Section 10-A of the Punjab Local Government Act, 2013, for being violative of principle of legislation as right to challenge could not be taken away through a statutory law. As the proceedings started, Additional Attorney General Naseer Bhutta opposed the petitions and argued the new delimitation was conducted in the light of new Act. He said the legality of delimitation could not be challenged before courts.
An additional advocate general argued once the election schedule was issued, no amendment could be made to it.
As the arguments of law officers were in progress, the bench headed by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah adjourned hearing for Tuesday (today).
