Woman, son shot dead in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A woman and her son were shot dead inside a house at Scheme Chowk in limits of Badbher police station here on Monday evening.

Police said that unidentified armed men broke into the house and opened indiscriminate fire on inmates which resulted into the death of Ayub Khan, son of Farid, and Siraja, wife of Farid.

Police said that as details about the incident were not yet availablecase into the incident was not registered.

However, they said that initial report suggested that a rival group was involved in the double murder.

A local source said that two groups of local people were still busy in crossfire in the area after the incident and police were trying to control the situation.

TEACHERS HOLD DEMO: Teachers on Monday held a protest demonstration at Sher Shah Suri Road against the delay in promotion of the physical education teachers.The protesters, holding banners and placards inscribed with their demands, also shouted slogans against the government.

Leading the protesters, Khairullah Hawari of Tanzeem-i-Asatiza Pakistan told mediapersons that the previous government had approved promotion of PET teachers to SST posts, giving them four per cent quota, but the decision was yet to be implemented.

He said teachers of other cadres had been promoted but the case of PETs was still pending, creating unrest among the teachers.
