Killers of innocent people deserve no mercy: Mamnoon

PESHAWAR: President Mamnoon Hussain has said the entire nation is united in the fight against terrorism and the action will continue till elimination of the last terrorist.
He asked the people, particularly youth, to play their rule effectively against terrorism and corruption and for restoration of sustainable peace in the country.
Speaking as chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the weeklong 1st Governor Fata Youth Festival at Qayyum Sports Complex here on Wednesday, he called upon the youth to play their imperative role for wiping out corruption and terrorism from the country.
The president said that killers of innocent people and perpetrators of brutal terrorist attacks like that of Mardan Nadra office did not deserve any mercy. He added that entire nation was united in the fight against terrorism and the actionwould continue till elimination of the last terrorist.
Mr Hussain said that sports could play key role in promotion of peace as it could protect youth from going into wrong hands. The nefarious designs of the enemy of peace could be frustrated by holding sports events in Federally Administered Tribal Areas with regular intervals, he added.
`I feel immense happiness to see joy on the faces of Fata youth. It clearly indicates that terrorism has been eliminated from Fata and peace has been restored to great extent,` said the president.
He said that youth was future of Pakistan and enemy of the country would not be allowed to exploit them for their ulterior designs.
The president said that government was recompiling education curriculum keeping in view the modern age needs and interests of Fata youth.
He said that sacrifices of tribal people would be written in golden words in the history. He assured them to address their genuine problems on priority basis.
Mr Hussain said that government was determined about dignified repatriation of temporary displaced people to their hometowns. All hurdles in their resettlement would be removed with an objective tobring Fata into mainstream, he added.
Corruption during the previous regimes, he said, adversely af fected process of development in the country and no significant mega energy and power project was launched by the previous governments.
The president said that the government, after coming into power, paidfullattention to energy sector, revival of economy and launched scores of power projects to address problem of energy shortfall on priority basis.
He said that entire nation should fight against corruption and socially boycott the corrupt elements besides exposing them. He said that majority of the wellreputed monetary institutions appreciated the economic policies and success of PML-N government for which credit went to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and his team.
The president said that people of the entire country would be benefited from the multi-dimensional China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project. He said that foundation laying ceremony of western route of CPEC by the prime minister would accelerate pace of development in Balochistan.
The president also lauded sacrifices of security forces, police and officials of political administrationfor defence of motherland in a difficult situation. He directed the governor and Fata Secretariat ofñcials to establish a state-of-the-art sports complex in Fata and organise more sports events and festivals for tribal people.
Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan in his welcome address thanked the president for attending concluding session of the festival as chief guest and said that tribal youth from all Fata agencies and frontier regions enthusiastically participated in different games in the weeklong festival.
He said that Fata youth were talented and their active participation in the festival reflected their dedication, commitment and service for the country.
Condemning the Mardan explosion, the governor said that attacking innocent people reflected the evil mindset of the terrorists.
Earlier, President Mamnoon Hussain was received by Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan, Fata parliamentarians and tribal elders.
MNA Ghazi Gulab Jamal presented traditional turban to the president.
The festival was started in Peshawar on December 23 wherein at least 1,785 athletes from the seven tribal agencies and six frontier regions took part.
