Lynching case suspects to be presented in ATC today

MARDAN: Police on Monday presented five suspects in Mashal Khan`s lynching case before the court of magistrate on special duty.

The five suspects completed their four-day remand in the custody of police on Monday. They were presented before the court of magistrate on special duty owing to public holiday on May 1.

The court granted oneday more remand of the suspects to police. The relevant ofñcials said that 10 suspects, including those ñve, in the lynching case would be presented on Tuesday (today) before an anti-terrorist court on completion of their remand.

Meanwhile, Mardan DPO Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad has taken action against three police officials for committing irregularities.

A statement issued here on Monday said that DPODr Mian Saeed Ahmad terminated Qamar Zaman Khan, station house officer of Katlang police station, for corruption and embezzlement of the items recovered f rom arrested people during severalcases. It said that a case would be registered against the terminated SHO if he failed to return the recovered items within 15 days to the police department.

Similarly, Murad Khan, station house officer of Par Hoti police station, was suspended and called to police lines by the DPO for keeping a person in illegal confinement and demanding bribe from him.

The DPO also took action against the SHO of Lundkhwar police station, Saidfullah Khan, by degrading him from his post and suspending him for five yearsafteraninquiryproved charges of corruption against him. Correspondent
