KARACHI: A woman and a man were found murdered off the Northern Bypass on Monday, officials said.

They added that the victims’ partially decomposed bodies were recovered from bushes at a deserted place near Sheedi Village after a passer-by informed the police about a bad smell emanating from there.

Moachko SHO Babar Hameed believed that the victims, aged between 30 and 35 years, were strangled to death around a week ago. They were trussed up and gagged with pieces of cloth, he said, adding that a rope was found tied around their neck.

The corpses were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem examination and identification purpose.

Meanwhile, a passenger travelling to Saudi Arabia was caught at the Karachi airport in possession of 3.1 kilograms of the drug amphetamine on Monday.

Mohammad Akram was about to board a Middle Eastern airline flight when Customs officials searched his suitcase and recovered the drugs, worth over Rs30 million in the open market.

The suspected drug trafficker was travelling through Qatar Airways flight QR605 to Riyadh via Doha.
