2017-07-11
LANDI KOTAL: MNA Haji Shahji Gul has postponed his protest campaign against delay in Fata reforms and said that a new date would be announced in the light of the decision of Supreme Court in Panama Papers case.

After his return from Umra, the MNA told this scribe that he had a meeting with Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif in Madina in which the latter assured of implementation of the reforms for Fata recommended by the sixmember committee.`The prime minister assured me that he himself would make the announcement during a visit to tribal areas in near future,` he said.

He added that the decision about postponing his protest campaign was made in light of the firm assurance by the prime minister.

Mr Gul said that prime minister and his family were already under pressure owing to Panama Papers case.

He said that he and his colleagues would not like to put him under further stress by pushing for the protest campaign they had planned in Fata after Eidul Fitr.

`We will convene an all-party conference and fix new date for a sit-in in Islamabad if federal government fails to honour its commitment about implementation of the proposed reforms plan,` said the MNA.

He said that leaders of some the mainstream political parties including Asfandyar Wali Khan of ANP, Sirajul Haq of JI and Aftab Sherpao of QWP ensured their presence in the proposed APC while PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PTI chief Imran Khan had also promised to attend it.

Mr Gul said that he and his other two pro-reforms MNAs from Fata were also against replacing Frontier Crimes Regulation with the proposed Rewaj Act. He said that they had made some recommendations to the federal government after they were given a detailed briefing on the Rewaj Act by the federal law minister. Correspondent
