Protest planned against drone attack

NOWSHERA: Difa-i-Pakistan Council has decided to launch a protest movement against recent drone attack in Balochistan, which killed Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Mansour, sources close to Maulana Samiul Haq, the council`s chief, disclosed to Dawn.

They said a full-fledge protest movement would start after Ramazan. However, some activities as part of the campaign would continue in the prevailing month.

When contacted, Samiul Haq told Dawn that he would reach Lahore on Sunday (today) to address a public gathering to be arranged against the American drone attacks. He added he would also hold corner meetings with the council members.

The Maulana said protest rallies and public gatherings would be organised in Ramazam.

However, he said a comprehensive movement would be initiated after the fasting month to `safeguard` sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan.

Samiul Haq said that the Lahore gathering would be addressed by Sirajul Haq, Hafiz Mohammad Syed, Syed Munawar Hassan, Maulana Mohammad Laudhianwi, Maulana Ibtsam Illahi Zaheer, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Rori, Qari Zwar Bahader, Abdul Rauf Farooqi, Hamid ul Haq Haqqani, Maulana Mohammad Yousaf Shah, ljazul Haq, Mohammad Awais Noorani, Fazlur Rehman Khalil and Sardar Attiq Ahmad Khan.
