Lakki councillor remains unhurt in grenade attack

LAKKI MARWAT: Unidentified persons attacked the house of district councillor Haji Gul Badshah in Naurang with a hand grenade, said officials here on Tuesday.
They said that the councillor and his family members remained unhurt in the attack. They said that the assailants riding a motorbike hurled the hand grenade at the house of councillor and disappeared. `The bomb hit the rooftop of the house and exploded with a bang, they added.
The officials said that the explosion panicked the inmates of the house and residents of the entire locality. `The blast partially damaged the roof of the house but it did not cause any loss to human life,` they added.
They said that it was second grenade attack on the house of Gul Badshah, who was receiving threatening calls from extortionists. After the explosion, a large contingent of police reached the spot and launched a search operation in the surrounding localities. However, no arrest was made till filing of this report.
Meanwhile, a new power feeder was energised at the 132KV Naurang grid station on Tuesday.
The power feeder was installed with a cost of Rs12.5 million to overcome problem of low voltage and reduce loadshedding in Naurang.
Pesco Superintending Engineer Mian Hamid energised the feeder in the presence of Naurang tehsil nazim Maulana Ezazullah Khan, naib nazim Haji Salar Khan, tehsil councillor Haji Azizullah Khan, Executive Engineer Mohammad Aslam Khan Gandapur and notables of the town.
Mian Hamid said that separate electricity feeder would be set up at 132 KV Tajazai grid station for district headquarters complex that housed government departments offices, police lines and judicial complex.
