Militant` arrested in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a militant in Kurrum Par area bordering the Mianwali district of Punjab.

`After being informed about the presence of a militant Jalat Khan in Wanda Fateh Khan village, a raiding party of police was tasked to arrestat all costs,` said an official. He said that the militant was absconding since 1988 after committing murder and other crimes.

`Later he indulged into militancy and police registered cases against him for possessing explosives and hand grenades,` the official said. He added that the law enforcers besieged a hideout in the village and arrested Jalat Khan without facingany tough resistance.

He said that the arrest of the militant would help to improve law and order situation in the area. `Police have also intensified efforts to bring the facilitators and suspects into the clutches of law,` he added.

Meanwhile, members of Jamaat-iIslami district council were sworn in on Monday.The ceremony was held in Sardarabad wherein JI districtchief Maulana Malik Meer Shah administered oath to the newly elected members of district shura. Among others, JI district and tehsil officebearers were also present on the occasion.

The members of JI district shura include Sabz Ali Naveed, Matiullah, Abdul Ghaffar Faryadi, Sher Ghulam, Maazullah Khan, Saifur Rehman and Abdul Samad.
