TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores ofteachers ofgovernment schools staged a protest demonstration on Monday outside the press club to condemn the arrest of Punjab Teachers` Union central chief Hafiz Ghulam Muhayuddin and other office bearers in Lahore for demanding raise in salaries.

Addressing the protesters, Mutahidda Asataza Mahaz office bearers Rana Amjad, Salim Wahla, Muhammad Iqbal and Sajjadul Haq warned if their leaders were not released by Wednesday,teachers would be forced to take to streets.

FIRING: Unidentified people allegedly fired at Arrouti police station house officer and other policemen on Monday near Shahpur in Pirmahal tehsil.

SHO Mukhtar Ahmad and policemen were present near Shahpur when they stopped three motorcyclists but they opened fire at the police party.

Later Elite Force and policemen from other nearby police stations were called in.
