Senior police officers may probe judge

2017-01-01
ISLAMABAD: A senior investigation team, comprising a grade 20 or above officer, will be constituted to probe the case in which a lower judiciary judge and his family have been accused of torturing a housemaid.

The Industrial Area police in a written request to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Islamabad stated that keeping in view the nature of the case a senior investigation team may be constituted.

A police of ficer explained to Dawn that the judge was a 20-grade officer and it was difficult for a junior of ficer to probe and interrogate him and his family. In routine, an inspector, sub-inspector or an assistant sub-inspector (all below grade 16)investigate such cases.

`The SSP is a grade 19 officer, so a team, comprising senior officers, such as the deputy inspector general of police (BPS-20) or the inspector general of the police (BPS-21) is most likely to be constituted,` he said, adding there were one grade 21 and three grade 20 officers in the capital police.

The SSP will discuss the matter with his senior of ficer and announce the investigation team most probably next week, the of ficial added.-Staf f Reporter
