TOBA TEK SINGH: The Rajana-Sharagpur portion of PeshawarLahore-Karachi motorway (M-3) and Toba-Gojra section (M-4) have been closed just two days after their inauguration.

The National Highways Authority did not issue any prior information for the motorists who travelled from various areas to Toba and Rajana interchanges of both motorways to go to Lahore, Islamabad or Faisalabad but had to return.

A function was arranged by the NHA at Rajana on May 28 evening where chief guest Prime Minister Shahid Khagan Abbasi had unveiled the plaques of inauguration of both roadsanditwasannouncedthat both motorways had beenopenedfortrafhc.

The NHA officials claimed that fencing around the roads and some other works was incomplete so the opening of both motorways for traffic could cause accidents. They said the completion of worl( would take a month or so.

PTI central vice-president Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq said the inauguration of both motorways was meant to win brownie points and millions of rupees out of national exchequer had been wasted on the prime minister`s May 28 visit of Rajana. He demanded that theNationalAccountability Bureau (NAB) take notice of the case. Correspondent
