Governor accuses Gandapur of turning against his own party leader in court

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday alleged that former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur had taken a contradictory position in court about his party leadership by calling Imran Khan disqualified and convicted.

He stated this while addressing a reception hosted in his honour by Central Traders Association, Dera Ismail Khan, President Sohail Ahmed Azmi.

He said that the former chief minister was calling the party’s protests outsidethe Adiala Jail as unnecessary.

Mr Kundi alleged that he was aware of the political contacts being made by the former chief minister behind the scenes.

The governor said that Mr Gandapur failed to bring a single mega project to his Dera home town during his tenure as the CM.

Mr Kundi further alleged that the former chief minister used to say that he did not accept the constitutional court, yet in a petition before the same court he had adopted the position that his leader was disqualified and convicted and that he had not resigned from the post of the chief minister.

‘For the sake of a single office, AliAmin is calling his leader disqualified and convicted,’ Mr Kundi added.

Later, the governor inaugurated the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) office on Multan Road.

Speaking on the occasion, he announced that the provincial government had allocated two kanals of land adjacent to the passport office for the construction of a Nadra building in Dera.

He said Nadra facilities had already been established in Panyala, Kirri Khaisor and other areas, while four additional Nadra offices would soon be opened in the district.

Passport counters would be introducedat Nadra centres to provide multiple public services under one roof, he added.

Mr Kundi said 26 Nadra facilitation centres would be established across the southern districts, including four each in Dera and Tank.

Mr Kundi said Section IV had been imposed on approximately 1,600 acres for the proposed Greenfield International Airport near the Yarik and Gloti areas.

He said the project was awaiting approval from the Pakistan Airports Authority board and, once completed, would rank among the country’s major aviation facilities capable of handling around one million passengers annually.
