LHC appoints lawyer to chair polo club EGM
2026-07-01
L AHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has intervened in a decadelongcorporate dispute at the Lahore Polo Club, appointing senior lawyer Dr Pervaiz Hassan to chair an upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).
Scheduled for July 18, on the club premises, the EGM was mandated by the LHC to resolve the ongoing legal gridlock.
The meeting centres entirely on the regular membership termination of Naveed Mughis Sheikh, which was revoked by the club in January 2018 under Article 7(1).
Mr Sheikh, the onlypermanent member in club`s history to have ever been terminated, challenged his ouster across multiple judicial tiers, including the Supreme Court.
The LHC passed the order on a petition filed by Shah Qubilai Alam and others.
Advocate Taffazul Haider Rizvi represented the petitioners and also questioned a previous EGM.
As the original termination required a supermajority, any decision to modify or restore the membership on July 18 will strictly require a three-fourth majority vote of the present quorum.Staff Reporter
