I HAVE been living in the vicinity of Safoora Goth, University Road, scheme 33, Karachi, for the last 12 years. The Sindh governmentmade several promises and set up deadlines in the last two years but failed to improve the pathetic condition of University Road one of the city`s main arteries.
Sixeducationalinstitutes arelocated at this eight-km-long road, which starts from Hassan Square and ends at Safoora Goth chowrangi. These are the Federal Government Urdu College, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, NED University of Engineering and Technology, Usman Institute of Technology, University of Karachi and Dow University`s Ojha campus.
Thousands ofstudentstravelon thisroad daily. They bear the brunt of the slackness of the authorities concerned.
Sadly, despite being one of the major roads of the city, this road is getting from bad to worse. It is getting damaged and bumpy day-by-day. It has now uncountable potholes which badly hamper traffic flow and also damage vehicles.
This road badly needs to be re-carpeted so that citizens may save their precious time and have some peace of mind.
The Sindh Chief Minister must order re-carpeting of this road. This needs to be done as soon as possible.
