Family held for girl`s rape, murder

LAHORE: The police said the six-year-old girl whose body was found in a greenbelt in Garden Town on Tuesday,wasallegedlyraped and killed by her neighbour.

Sadar Division Superintendent of Police Rizwan Umar Gondal Wednesday said the minor girl, of Sabzazar, had gone missing on Oct 30 when she was playing in the street. A next-door neighbour raped her at his residence and later strangulated her. He dumped the body under a bed. His brother also helped him in the murder.

When their parents came to know about the incident, they packed the body into a sack and threw it at a greenbelt in Garden Town. The police arrested brothers and their parents.

During interrogation, he said, the alleged killers confessed to their crime.

According to initial police inquiries, `M` had eloped with a local youth, Arif Ali, a couple of weeks ago.

Her father Zeeshan got a kidnap case lodged against Arif. Meanwhile, her younger brother, Sehar Ali, an intermediate student, who nurtured a grudge against `M` for tarnishing the family`s `honour` opened fire on the couple.

As a result, the woman suffered three bullet wounds, while Arif managed to escape from the scene. `M` was taken to hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

The body was shifted to the city morgue for an autopsy and the police lodged a murder case against the suspect on the complaint of the victim`s father.

SHOT DEAD: Two unidentified motorcyclists on Wednesday shot dead a property dealer in Samanabad.

Police said the assailants came to the of fice of 50-yearold property dealer Malik Naeem, sprayed him with bullets and fled, leaving him dead on the spot.

Malik Nadeem Tufail told the police that his brother had some property dispute with a local, Khurram Shahzad.

The body was shifted for autopsy.

Police have lodged a murder case against unidentified men and handed over the case to the homicide unit.
