LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a schedule for mayoral elections to complete the local bodies in Punjab. The ECP notified on Thursday that polling for filling up seats of chairmen/vice-chairmen and mayors/deputy mayors in district councils, municipal committees/corporations and the metropolitan corporation in Punjab would be held on Dec 22.

The hopeful may file their candidatures on Dec 9 and 10 and the same will be scrutinized on next two days. Appeals against rejection or acceptance of nominations by returning officers may be submitted by Dec 14 which will be decided by the appellate authorities on Dec 15.

Those wishing to withdraw themselves from the race may do so by Dec 16.

The candidates winning the Dec 22 polls will be notified on Dec 28 and they will take oath of their offices on Dec 31, concludes the notification.
