SHANGLA: The sub-divisional officer of Pesco has alleged that local influential people having affiliation with ANP have tortured workers of the power supply company.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, SDO Ali Mohammad and Rehmat Wali said that some influential people in Dandai area thrashed Pesco employees.

They said that the people were defaulters and involved in theft of electricity.

`We conducted an operation against `Kunda mafia` and caught many people red-handed, who were stealing electricity. They got illegal electricity connections.

During the action, local influential people associated with ANP beat up Pesco workers Kabir and Dilbar Khan,` said SDO Ali.

He said that the armed power thieves also tried to shoot Pesco employees, however, the workers managed to escape in injured condition.

`We have submitted application with Dandai police station but police have not been registered a case against the people responsible for the act,` he added.

The official said that they would continue to take action against power thieves.

He demanded of the police authorities to register a case against the power thieves involved in beating Pesco officials.

SEIZED: Huge quantity of hashish and arms was seized during strike and search operation in Bisham Dandai here on Thursday.

SHO Khurshid Ali Khan said that on the directives of district police officer, a strike and search operation was conducted in the different areas of Dandai.

He said that police recovered arms and hashish during the operation.

He said that several people involved in different crimes were also arrested.
