Health workers found absent in Karak

KARAK: The chairman of standing committee on health in district council, Dr Arshad Faheem, found several staffers absent from duty during his visit to rural health centres in Ahmadabad, Zaragandi and Warana.

He sent his report to district nazim for further action. During his visit, local people complained about shortage of staff and medicines in the health centres.

Talking to journalists, Dr Arshad said that he found two female medical technicians absent during his visits to the three rural health centres of Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil. He added that there was also shortage of medicinesin the centres.

He said that he sent a report about the absent staffers to district nazim and recommended necessary action against them.

He said that the buildings of the hospitals and the adjacent quarters were in shambles. He added that district government would take necessary measures for maintenance of the buildings.

Dr Arshad said that recently district government approved Rs15 million for district headquarters hospital. He said that funds would also be provided to other health centres in the district.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The elders of Teri have demanded of the oil and gas exploration company MOL to award scholarships to the students of Banda Daud Shah tehsil.

The demand was made in a meeting of the elders held here on Monday with former councillor Inayatullah Khattak in the chair. The elders of the entire tehsil attended the meeting.

The participants of the meeting said that MOL Company used to award merit scholarships to the student s belonging to Banda Daud Shah. The company had conducted test a year ago to award merit scholarships to the students but so far no result of the test was announced, they added.

The elders said that people had admitted their children to educational institutions in the hope of getting scholarships. They said that company was not announcing results of the test that created unrest among the parents ofthe students.

The participants of the meeting said that the scholarships should be awarded to the students without further delay.Correspondent
