Two robbery suspects shot dead in `encounter`

LAHORE: Two suspected robbers were murdered in an alleged police encounter in the Manawan area while another was arrested in the Ghalib Market police precincts.
A police official said a team of the CIA Civil Lines police was taking two suspected robbers, Qadeer Ahmad and Nasir Hussain, to conduct a raid for the arrest of their accomplices in the area of Manawan police.
Suddenly, according to his claims, some armed men opened fire on the raiding police team for the release of their accomplices from custody. The police returned fire, which led to an encounter. After the encounter, the police found Qadeer and Nasir shot dead.
The official alleged that both the deceased had died from the firing of their own accomplices who had attacked the police.
The attackers, however, miraculously managed to escape, the police official said and alleged that both the deceased had committed several robberies and injured ASI Imran in an armed attack. The police registered a case against the unidentified attackers.
In the other incident in the Ghalib Market police area, an alleged robber, Ahsan, received a bullet injury when his accomplices attacked the police for his release.
The official said the Ghalib Market investigation in-charge was taking Ahsan to conduct a raid for the arrest of his accomplice when some suspects attacked the police team. Ahsan was injured in their firing.
The injured suspect has been shifted to hospital for treatment.
