Riphah, CPMA sign MoU to expand medical cooperation with China

ISLAMABAD: Riphah International University and the China Pakistan Medical Association (CPMA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation between Pakistan and China in medical education, research, clinical training and professional development.

According to a press release issued by Riphah, the MoU was signed by the university`s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr Yawar Hayat Khan, and CPMA President Dr Muhammad Shahbaz.

Under the agreement, the twoinstitutions will collaborate on medical research, clinical training, academic exchanges, and student and faculty development, the release said.

As part of the partnership, a CPMA Pakistan chapter will be established at Riphah University, with Prof Dr Yawar Hayat Khan appointed as its head and general secretary of CPMA.

The initiative aims to provide Pakistani students, researchers and healthcare professionals with greater opportunities for knowledge-sharing,researcheollaborationandelinicalexposure through academic and professional links with China, the release said.

The signing ceremony coincided with the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People`s Republic of China, the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations and the fifth anniversary of CPMA.

The collaboration builds on institutional links developed during a recent official visit to China by RIU Chancellor Hassan Muhammad Khan, according to the release.
